GA Tech Atlanta, GA Description of Project: In June 2007, Georgia Tech acquired the North Avenue Apartments, a student residential complex formerly known as the Georgia State University Village. Subsequently, in early 2008 Georgia Tech Facilities hired Perry Dean Rogers Partners in collaboration with Houser Walker Architecture to masterplan modifications and additions to the complex.
The intent was to transform the community into a robust living and learning environment and foster a sense of belonging to Georgia Tech. The Master Plan identified seven areas for transformation including, the complex’s relationship to North Avenue, transformation of the interior courtyards, a new strategy for security, the addition of a major food service facility, the creation of multiple, flexible use spaces for study, and the reconfiguration of an existing bus loading space.
